A Moment of Reflection

Muharram has arrived and the commemoration of the martydom of Imam Husein(A.S), the beloved grandson of the Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W) has begun...
To the less knowing of the incident, historians and even religious scholars with little insight to the incident has described the incident as a suicide mission when there are more depth to the whole picture...
For now... history lessons aside...
An interesting point UStaz Rosli mentioned in his speech during the daily night sessions of commemoration for the next few days till the 10th Muharram...
Ilmu dan Keyakinan
Knowledge and the confidence in yourself of yourself of that knowledge
How important it is to be have a good grasp and a mastery of the things that we learn and have committed ourselves to learn...

Learning I realised is a very hard path in life... To raise the bar to a very high intellectual level takes a lot of tough work and commitment...
I may not have been able to truly immerse myself in deep thought processes in my development years such that it can be fairly automatic now...
But as they say nothing is impossible and the person with the perseverance wins in the end... If there is a will, there is a way... If there is a chance, take that chance...
For you will never know until you try... but of course, be critical enough to evaluate what the situation is... Not all chances are meant to be taken... Some may lead us to harm and some may just be pointless chances which does not ultimately bring any benefits in the long run...

The question is how do I achieve the standard of a true intellectual... A sublime thinker to the constructions of the world processes and to be able to deconstruct and analyze... and present new solutions and ideas to the present for the sustainability of critical future processes...
A fine example would be how Syed Hussein Al-atas deconstruct the lazy malay phenomenon that has permeated into the thoughts of the Malays and the general public when he wrote the book The Myth of the Lazy Malays... which he explains that this notion has been the works of colonialism in undermining the efforts of the native malays who are less interested in working for the British then...
Sadly, even Malays themselves concur they are themselves lazy and a commonality among Malays when laziness, a trait, is not a genetic factor but an environmental influence and cause...

It is critical to think and evaluate... of our very actions and everyday actions...
To ponder at the end of the day, what we have done wrong and what can be better...
What has not been done and what could have been done...
and what is that we must set out to do the very next day...

Oh well... I guess this is my kind of musings and thought processes...
Admire the writer Janadas Devan who once in a while writes very elaborate articles unique in taste and position of thought...
How can I achieve that? To be able to think beyond the light at the end of the tunnel... To Think about the source of the light itself before we even reach the light at the end of the tunnel...

Uh oh... need to go NUS early tomorrow... 0930hrs! Cannot be late!
